# Venus sculpture source and license record

`venus-scan-geometry.js` is an optimized full-body derivative of **Venus de Milo** by **Cosmo Wenman**. It is his September 2013 photogrammetry survey of the Skulpturhalle Basel's 1850 plaster cast, made by the Louvre atelier from the ancient sculpture. The historical work is not a newly invented human likeness. This source and provenance are described by the scan creator himself.

The downloaded archive's metadata records CC BY 4.0. The current creator-hosted Thingiverse page's structured data explicitly associates this same model with CC0 1.0. Both records are retained in the local audit; neither is silently substituted for the other. This distributed optimized derivative retains the creator credit, source links, notice of changes and **CC BY 4.0** attribution notice. The geometry's attribution terms do not change the license of independently authored world, controller, plinth or sign code. No museum or creator endorsement is implied.

Recommended visible artwork credit:

> Venus de Milo: Cosmo Wenman scan of the Skulpturhalle Basel plaster cast. Optimized, reoriented and normalized for this scene. CC BY 4.0 attribution retained; creator's current release also declares CC0.

Link the creator/model title and the license. Make this note and the optimized geometry source downloadable from the existing Artwork credits area when integrating the asset. Public credits should identify the artwork without revealing its hidden placement or the unrelated existing encounter.

## Local modifications and integrity

Selected original STL: **97,935,184 bytes**, **1,958,702 triangles**. SHA-256: `1569bbda393d4d37ead3c8659b45bc3d1367bddb653f432a14f730fbbfab35d9`.

Local changes: decimated the complete sculpture to **16,000 triangles** for standard quality and **7,000 triangles** for low quality; applied smooth normals; centered X/Z and seated minimum Y at zero; normalized full sculpture height to 5.4 metres; oriented Y-up and +Z-facing; removed source UVs/materials; supplied local warm untextured marble. Positions use signed 16-bit packing at 0.1 millimetre precision with maximum coordinate error under 0.05 millimetre; normals use normalized signed 16-bit packing and indices use unsigned 16-bit packing. No texture, animation, runtime download or account-gated source is used for the sculpture.

Packed module: **373,682 bytes**, **268,014 gzip bytes**, SHA-256 `a19ecb1c0b1e6af9f423ef36faae8a43acbb0bde5397563cd8230a9f05310f6d`.

The audit directory `artifacts/hope-native-terrain-assembly/classical-assets/` retains the exact source, archive metadata/file listing, primary creator-page receipts, headless one-thread conversion/export scripts, geometry/integrity reports and full-body offline study images. Original source files and offline audit images are not runtime web assets. The study images show the sculpture asset alone; they are not evidence of final placement in the game.
